Since mid-December there has been a bug on the Adobe bug bystem for Flex Builder 3.0.2x/Flash Player 10, detailing that an error message appears whilst trying to launch an app in debug mode saying:

The installed Flash Player is the wrong version. Reinstall Flex Builder or install a debugger version of Flash Player 9.

This message is often seen after a prolonged build, where the build progress only seems to progress to around 49%. This problem appears isolated to users on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 operating systems (both 32- and 64-bit).

The only way to recover your system from this bug is to kill the browser process in taskmgr; only after you have received the error message from the Flex Builder IDE.

This bug is fairly crippling when it comes to developer productivity, particularly during bug fixing phases for projects. I would urge that if you experience this issue yourself, you go to the Adobe online bug system and vote/comment on the issue. The more weight that can be put behind this bug, the more chance we have of Adobe addressing the issue immediately with a hotfix, rather than waiting for the next point release (which could be some time away).

The workaround seems only to be rolling back to an earlier (pre FP10) debug player, but this won't be ideal for most development scenarios.

Adobe: Any chance of a hotfix for this one?

After months of perseverance and numerous suggestions, the Adobe team looking into this issue have finally isolated the bug to the Flash Player runtime. Adobe believe a fix for this will be released in the next update to the Flash runtime (after 10.0.22.87).

On Windows, debugging sometimes fails due to corrupt data passed from AIR to Flex Builder

over socket. (FB-16153, 2292083)
