Adobe checks-in QVM to Tamarin
Posted: 19/12/07
Adobe Systems, one of the key players/contributors to the Mozilla Tamarin project, checked in a new virtual machine yesterday. Called QVM, it is able to allow the execution of AS3 bytecode under low memory and low CPU conditions.
This implies that, once the project matures, we will have a virtual machine capable of running AS3 applications on mobile devices.
Whilst this check-in doesn't mention anything relating to Flash Player, Adobe's Gary Kovacs was quoted as saying "...we anticipate that this work will be deployed in Flash, over time, on both PC and non-PC devices."
Looks like another merry Christmas at Adobe and more challenges at Microsoft.
Ted Patrick began the excitement over on <a href="http://www.onflex.org/ted/2007/12/meet-qvm-new-tamarin-vm-contributed-to.php">his blog</a> yesterday afternoon.
