The Flex 2 beast!
Posted: 24/07/06
After a nice break, I'm back working with Flex 2 - which is built on the back of Eclipse. Having great fun with this at the moment, Flex 2 is far better than 1.5, and the Eclipse-based development environment performs far better than the old Flex Builder. Currently, I'm modifying UI components (UIComponent), to get them to look and behave exactly as a large brand would expect them to. By overriding certain protected properties of regular components, you can achieve near perfect levels of customisation, whilst maintaining good, clean, reusable components.
Having already played with styling and skinning in Flex 2, I'm confident it'll deliver on most of Adobe's promises, and will become a key player in development of enterprise-level RIAs.
